:- 1.0 out of 5 stars from Amicos -- Horribly disappointing ending : After everything Hera and fellow “upstarts” (particularly women) have been through and after reading both books to conclusion it ends with a “too bad we just used the women for our own gain but now that we got what we wanted it’s time for them to go back to the kitchen or bed where they belong” attitude? It was so disappointing and a let down that I’m considering never reading King again (whom I’ve really liked in the past). It would be much more palatable if there was a third installment that gave women the power and recognition they deserve. After all, this is fiction upon fiction…King could easily take license here regardless of whether or not she was weaving actual Greek MYTHOLOGY in the story. Ugh. Gross still echoes in my thoughts. I kept looking for some unrealized explanation that maybe a third book would bring, but hence there doesn’t seem to be a third book coming. Now, Cronus is whipping up the old guard in order to suppress the new Gods and Goddesses while focusing on Hera who worked with Zeus to send Cronus packing and into hiding. With a bit of help from Selene and others, Hera searches for her other brothers (Poseidon and Hades) hoping they will stand with her, Zeus, and her sisters against Cronus. The connection to the myths of old was well played and not overdone, but with enough novelty to make it entirely devourable. Althea/Hera is a formidable character and an absolute joy to read, she flies free from the pages. Thoroughly enjoyed these books, and looking forward to more from King in the near future.
